Resurrection

Hearing that two English comedians have resurrected a comedy god from the dead should raise an eyebrow. Discovering that the god in question is the late Bill Hicks will almost definitely generate palpitations. Whether they are of excitement or dread rather depends on your point of view: excitement if you continue to listen to “Arizona Bay” on repeat and yearn for more, or dread if you righteously defend him as an irreplaceable product of his time. Patience

Recently I was sauntering down the South Bank admiring the view of the Thames when I was stopped by a Japanese couple asking for directions. This always confounds me as I’m new to the city myself. Unaided, I can find Trafalgar Square, The British Museum, two lovely pubs that sell Harvey’s and a Tesco Metro; after that, I must resort to my bottom-warmed mini A-Z. Read more »

The Online Dating Minefield

The reality is somewhat different: online dating has been a growth industry for at least ten years and is now seen as a perfectly respectable way to find your future partner. Roots and Echoes

I just got my CD version of the new album by The Coral: Roots and Echoes.

I wouldn’t say I’d ever been a big fan of theirs. I have their first eponymous album from 2002 and it does have a few stand out tracks, but I could take it or leave it. That changed this year though after seeing them at Glastonbury. They played an awesome set and although I didn’t see the whole thing, I was bowled over by their rendition of the new single, “Who’s gonna find me”. Among all that miserable weather they managed to make a large crowd very happy indeed. Read more »
